A good turn-out of 25 players took part in the 1st QUALIFIERS tournament for the MASTERS 2018 that started last week-end in Rose-Hill. 2018 being an Olympiad Year the top spots in the MASTERS 2018 would be highly coveted as it would mean qualification to the Mauritius chess olympiad team. On top of that with Roy Phillips and Patrick Li Ying no longer competing in local tournaments ,great opportunities have opened up for those young guns who have dreamed of an Olympiad slot for the Batumi Chess Olympiad 2018 in Georgia.
