ADRIEN FINE REPRESENT MAURITIUS AT THE AFRICAN YOUTH

Adrien FINE ,one of our most promising junior players who was scheduled to play in the African Junior in Saurimo (Angola) had to default on this tournament as the cost of the trip was ballooning out of control after the players were informed that there was another leg of air-fare to pay from Luanda and Saurimo. Additionally the problem to get an angolan biometric visa would have entailed a 3 day stop in South Africa which was simply unaffordable for the MCF and the player's parents.

MAURITIUS AWARDED THE 2016 ZONAL 4.3 CHAMPIONSHIPS

The African Chess Union has awarded the hosting of the 4.3 Zonal Individual Chess Championships to Mauritius in 2016. This is great news indeed as Mauritius has never held a continental event on its soil whereas our island neighbours Madagascar hosted the event in 2011, albeit with only 4 countries participating, and the Seychelles has been awarded the hosting of the 2015 African Junior Chess championship.
