Dear Chess Friends,

It is with great pleasure that i am addressing you this welcoming message on the Mauritius Chess Federation web site ,a long overdue cherished project that has today become a reality thanks to the efforts of the MCF managing committee. I would like to say a special thank you to Vice-President Patrick Li Ying and to our Web master Mr Jens Bhurtah who has benevolently and single-handedly created this site, which will be the main channel of communication between the public/chess community and the federation. We have undergone a soft launching to announce the exciting projects that are in the pipeline especially the Chess in Schools project ,the calendar ,the rating list and other news items that may be of interest to all.

2014 is also an interesting year on the international scene as it is an olympiad year and we will be sending a team to the Tromso Chess Olympiad (Norway) in August and also hope to be able to replicate the participation of a junior player to an international competition as Vicken Sawmynaden did in last December World Youth Championship in Al Ain (United Arab Emirates).

We will encourage greater participation of young players to our tournaments and we will make a drive to attract  more female players to our chess community. The Federation will try to organise specific training events to our top juniors during school holidays in collaboration with our titled players.

We have added a Down Memory lane section to remember all those great friends and chess players who have left us in the past and will also use this channel to remember those great chess local events/tournaments that happened since the creation of the MCF. Your contributions will be much appreciated.

Wishing You all a happy browsing of our web site,

Mr Hurrynarain Bhowany

President Mauritius Chess Federation
